On 31st July 2025, Green Foster Action Uganda (GreFA) joined hands with the local community youth, elders, and families of Bushenyi District, Ishaka, in a powerful demonstration of love and commitment to Mother Nature Under the theme “Protect What Protects You.”
The GreFA team conducted a community sensitization drive, educating residents on the devastating effects of deforestation—including increased floods, prolonged dry spells, poor harvests, and the loss of clean air.
Many community members were shocked to learn how deeply tree loss was affecting their daily lives and livelihoods.
Over 1000 trees were planted and 1000 trees were promised as pledges..
The trees were planted together with the community members with resounding calls of “obuntu” and “bulungi bwansi” in Bushenyi District. Community members were called upon to narture the tree seedlings like their own childs.
“We are all responsible for protecting our nature. It affects us in both good ways and bad ways.” Said Bridget Nabwire, our Finance and Administration Officer, addressing the community members. “Every small effort counts. Don’t leave this work for government and organizations.” She added.
A team was elected to oversee the growth of the tree seedlings and continue all efforts of restoring the climate in the area.
