Kampala, Uganda – March 6, 2026
Green Foster Action Uganda (GreFA) is thrilled to announce our new fiscal sponsorship partnership with Nonviolence International, a global leader in promoting nonviolent strategies for social change.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone in our mission to amplify youth voices at the intersection of climate justice, human rights, democracy, and environmental protection. Together, we are committed to building a more equitable and sustainable future through disciplined, people-powered nonviolent action.
Our work focuses on mobilizing, educating, and organizing young people and communities to challenge harmful practices that fuel climate injustice, food insecurity, energy poverty, and economic vulnerability. From peaceful demonstrations and petitions to community dialogues and advocacy campaigns, we empower individuals to demand accountability from corporations and governments while prioritizing safety, dignity, and collective solidarity.
This partnership with Nonviolence International aligns perfectly with our shared values. Nonviolence International’s expertise in nonviolent resistance and movement-building will provide us with essential support, including fiscal sponsorship that enables us to expand our reach and impact. By joining forces, we aim to strengthen nonviolent movements that defend human rights, protect the planet, and foster democratic spaces in challenging environments like Uganda, where activists often face harassment, arrests, and intimidation.
Through coordinated public actions, we have raised national and international awareness, generated media attention, and applied meaningful pressure on decision-makers. This partnership will help us scale such initiatives, ensuring more young people can participate safely and effectively.
At the heart of GreFA’s approach is investing in the next generation of leaders. Our training programs, including First Exposure Trainings (FETs) that introduce principles of civil resistance and risk assessment, and Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions that build skills in campaign design, facilitation, and coalition-building, have already empowered over 300 youth activists and community groups across Uganda. With Nonviolence International’s backing, we will enhance these programs, providing ongoing mentorship to sustain long-term change.
In Uganda’s complex landscape, where laws restrict assembly and extractive projects threaten livelihoods, defending democracy is inseparable from climate action. This partnership reinforces our belief that nonviolent strategies can expose power imbalances, confront extractive systems, and create pathways to justice without compromising safety.
We invite supporters, activists, and allies to join us in this exciting chapter. Visit our website at greenfosteraction.org to learn more about our work, or make a donation through Nonviolence International at nonviolenceinternational.net/donate. Whether through a one-time gift or monthly contribution, your support will fuel youth-led nonviolent action for a just and sustainable world.Together, we are proving that young people can lead the charge for climate justice, democracy, and human rights. Stay tuned for updates on our collaborative projects – the future is nonviolent, and it’s in our hands!
